Cut Gate is an ancient route from Yorkshire into Derbyshire used by people on foot, horse and wagon. The track is an easy one to follow if you pay attention, but on reaching Howden Edge the walk requires good navigation.
The track along Harden Moss can be difficult to navigate in bad weather. It is also prone to being water-logged. Many a walker has gone into a peat bog up to their thighs here. In prolonged wet weather this walk may be one to miss. I’m not selling this walk very well am I.
