Walk No.5 Dark Peak Walks, Peak District National Park

The walk starts at Grindleford Station cafe, an institution in the Dark Peak. History is a constant feature of the walk. Almost immediately the walker reaches Padley Chapel, with its associations with the Reformation.

Carl Wark in the evening light. For many years it was thought this was an Iron Age fort, now there is some uncertainty over that. The centre of Carl Wark is a boulder strewn field so not much room for people, animals or buildings.
